The National Football League (NFL) announced at its annual meeting this week that it has agreed on a long-term extension of on-field rights with Nike for an additional eight years.

The extension specifically states that Nike will continue to provide all uniforms and sidelines apparel for all  32 NFL teams. Nike will also continue to make footwear and gloves for athletes signed to Nike sponsorship deals.

“Nike has been a long-time and trusted partner of NFL and we’re thrilled to extend our relationship with them,” said Brian Rolapp, Chief Media and Business Officer for the NFL.

Nike has held the NFL contract since 2012. Prior to this, Reebok had a ten-year NFL contract secured through a deal worth $250 million.

Rolapp added, “The NFL and Nike are a powerful combination and we anticipate working closely with them on several programs, including youth and player initiatives.”

Nike’s contract with the NFL was originally set to expire in 2020. The extension brings the NFL and Nike’s partnership through 2028.
